AI EVALS JOBS Post a role

How long does a role stay open?

Every job board shows you a posting date and leaves you to guess what it means. This is the answer, measured from 500 roles that have actually left this board.

46 days

The median time from an employer publishing a role to it disappearing from their careers page. A quarter are gone within 19 days, a quarter are still up after 109.

What this means if you are applying

A posting is not a deadline, and the spread here matters more than the median. 13% of these roles were gone inside two weeks, which is the argument for applying the day you see something you want. But 30% were still open after three months, so a listing that has been up a while is not necessarily dead, and treating it as dead is how people talk themselves out of applying to jobs that were still hiring.

One honest caveat about what is being measured. We record a role as closed when it disappears from the employer's own careers feed. That usually means filled, sometimes means withdrawn or reorganized, and occasionally means the company restructured its job board. It is a good proxy for how long you have, and it is not a hiring statistic.

Post-training & RL roles move fastest

Median days open by discipline, for categories with at least fifteen closed roles behind them. A shorter bar means less time to decide.

The ones that went fast

The shortest-lived postings on the board, counting only roles that name the discipline in the title. A role that closes this quickly was usually filled from a pipeline the employer already had, which is an argument for being early rather than for being fast.

The ones nobody could fill

The longest-running roles before they finally came down. A requisition open this long is usually a hard hire rather than a slow one, which makes these a reasonable map of where the real scarcity is.

Method. Every role this board has seen open and then close, where the employer published a posting date. Closure is measured by disappearance from the company's own careers endpoint, checked daily. Roles with a close date before their posting date, or open more than two years, are excluded as bad source data rather than as fast or slow hires. This is a young board, so the sample grows every week and these numbers will move. Recomputed every morning.
